It's that time of year again - EOFY stocktake!
Today, keepers from WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo dusted off their calculators and put on their counting caps for the attraction's End of Financial Year stocktake, reflecting on a successful year of breeding and rescue efforts.
With the help of our furry, scaly and slippery residents, keepers equipped themselves with spreadsheets and animal-friendly clipboards and conducted the count, much to the interest of fluffy onlookers including Davey the Quokka, who lended a helping paw to ensure the exercise went off without a hitch.
Other animals including baby diamond pythons and four sugar gliders were also star participants in the annual count, as they perched and wrapped themselves on and around the official counting equipment, while the attraction's resident koalas were oblivious to the stocktake, because they were too busy catching up on their daily 20-hours' worth of shut eye.
Over the past 12 months, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo has seen an increase in the number of animals that reside in the attraction including kangaroos, snakes and Australian-native birds, thanks to a series of dedicated breeding programs and rescue initiatives.
