Eclectus Parrots: In the Christmas spirit!

With Christmas fast approaching and the school holidays getting dauntingly closer you're probably looking for school holiday activities and Christmas stocking fillers for the kids. Our Eclectus Parrots are always in the Christmas spirit - decking themselves out in red and green year round - so we thought we would ask their opinion on the best children's gifts this year and they said… banana mash.

We can hear you asking…. "Seriously? My kids HATE anything remotely healthy for them, what a rubbish suggestion!"

We agree with you wholeheartedly but didn't want to hurt our beautiful bird's feelings by ignoring their suggestion completely and without shame. So, we've found a way to make banana mash exciting... Family tickets to WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo!

Yes, that's right, go WILD in the City these school holidays at Darling Harbour's favourite attraction. The kids can come along and meet all our amazing Aussie animals including Gloria, Melman and Julian the Eclectus Parrots. On your visit you'll learn about their personalities, habits and their favourite meal - BANANA MASH!

Gloria, Melman and Julian are just three of our six Eclectus Parrots here at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and we bet you noticed they are all named after Madagascar characters. Yes, Gloria is named after a Hippo because she is the biggest Eclectus Parrot we have ever seen, Yes, Melman just like the giraffe is scared of almost everything and yes, Julian like the Lemurs is all confidence and zero brains!
