5 Daily Kids Events in Sydney - with Australian Animals!

Every day of the week, there are fun events for kids happening throughout Sydney. WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo has a long list of daily feeds and talks. From the spectacle of creature-feasting time to an interactive kids show, there’s plenty to keep the family entertained for hours. Which one of these Australian animals is your favourite? Note the feed and talk times before your visit so you don’t miss out on their special displays. Did we mention it’s all included in your admission fee?

Star of the Event: Outback Animals

Ever met a cheeky quokka? They’re famous for their smile! Seen the spikes of a gentle echidna up close? Did you know some snakes aren’t so terrifying after all? Australia is home to one-of-a-kind furry and scaly creatures you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Catch the daily Aussie Animal Adventure Show at 2pm. This kid’s show offers a rare chance to touch some of these animals and hear amazing stories about their habits and habitats.

Star of the Event: Cute Koalas

Koalas are arguably Australia’s most iconic animals and for a good reason. Because these pouched mammals look like little fluffy tree-hugging bears, they’re very endearing. Learn all about their ‘no worries’ attitude to life at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo. Attend one of the daily Koala Talks at 12:30pm and 2:30pm. You might get to meet beautiful big-eyed Kalina who was born in late 2018, and likes to jump, Tarzan-like, from tree to tree! Then there’s Kyara, or the easy-going Alphie, who loves cheering up kids at children’s hospitals.

Star of the Event: Loveable Wombats

Why meet wombats? These marsupials look like a cute mix between a bear and a pig, with a round body, short legs, and claws made for digging impressive burrows. Fun wombat fact: their poo is cube-shaped! Want to know why? Hear the answer and get to know Ringo, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo’s orphaned and adopted resident wombat at the daily Wombat Talk at 11:15am. The keepers will teach kids the dangers wombats face in the wild, and you can donate a gold coin afterwards to support wombat rescue.

Star of the Event: Curious Kangaroos

Roos are a unique Aussie-animal favourite, best known for bouncing using their strong hind legs. Bet you haven’t seen another large animal hop like this! Like koalas, Mumma roos have pouches to carry their young until they’re ready to face the world themselves. Meet the Kangaroo Island Kangaroos, Dot, Dawn and Dusk at one of the daily Kangaroo Talks at 1pm and 3pm. How do their personalities differ? What do they eat? How high can they jump?

Star of the Event: Super-Cool Crocs

Did you know saltwater crocodiles are the largest reptile in the world? They sometimes measure over 6 metres from tip to tail, and can weigh 1200 kgs! With those teeth, they can pretty much chomp on anything. Cattle, water buffalo, you name it. Attend one of the daily Crocodile Talks at 1:30pm and 3:30pm, where you’ll learn about croc conservation and Australia’s spectacular Kakadu Gorge region. If you arrive on a Saturday, don’t miss out on seeing Rocky being fed at 1:30pm.

So Much More to See

There are many more exciting feeds and talks. Get up close to energetic Red-collared Lorikeets; they’re so friendly, they may even perch on you! How about being wowed by the world’s deadliest bird or the world’s largest living marsupial? (Don’t worry, you’re safe!) Do you know what they are? Check out the full list of WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo’s feed and talk times here.
